Mecca Slots also known as Mecca Club was owned by Sylvia Sirotta for its run of less than one year.
She sold it to Herb Pastor who would remodel the boarded up casino and change the name to the Golden Goose.

Photos of Mecca Slots are pretty much nonexistent. However the amazing blog Vintage Vegas has an animated .gif from the 1975 B-movie Las Vegas Lady starring Stella Stevens which had some great shots of early 1970’s downtown Las Vegas. Scattered amongst the quick cut scenes was this shot of Mecca Slots. You can see the .gif at Vintage Vegas and watch the trailer for the movie on YouTube.

I bought this original tourist slide below which shows a wide shot of Fremont Street in 1973
and luckily includes Mecca Slots way off in the distance.
Look in the background between the signs for the Las Vegas Club and the Mint and you’ll see the sign for Mecca Slots.
The half block of Fremont Street from 20 to 32 Fremont has been home to quite a few important and recognizable businesses in the past. The little alley between the Las Vegas Club and the Golden Goose sign is part of the original layout of Las Vegas as surveyed in 1905.  I took the picture below in October 2013 and the list shows some of the businesses that took up residence in this tiny patch over the years.
